Two fires at same house are ruled accidental

The two separate fires that destroyed a home in the Lutherville-Timonium area on Thanksgiving Day were ruled accidental, investigators from the Baltimore County Fire Department said.

No one was injured at the two-story house in the 10700 block of Greenspring Avenue, fire officials said.

They said the first fire was caused by sparks from within the chimney. The cause of the second fire at the same address is undetermined, authorities said, because too much damage was done to the house.

The incident occurred at 1:52 p.m. while the family was having a Thanksgiving gathering, officials said. They said a family child who was playing outside noticed flames and smoke coming from the roof.

Firefighters subdued the fire, which caused minimal damage to the roof and upstairs bedroom. Fire crews were dispatched to the same house at 3:32 a.m. Friday for the second fire.

All fire personnel were ordered to evacuate before a partial collapse occurred at 5:03 a.m., authorities said.
