The Baltimore County Police Department on Sunday was able to contact a man who had dropped off a stray cat with rabies at the Westview Animal Hospital in Gwynn Oak.

Police said they informed the man of the dangerous condition of the diseased cat and thanked all who helped them find him. The man brought the cat into the hospital on Johnnycake Road at around 8 a.m. Thursday.

Officials sought his identity on Saturday and asked the public to help contact him, described as wearing a red shirt and driving a light-colored SUV with possibly an unknown War of 1812 tag.

Police said the Health Department is asking anyone who has been exposed to the cat between Oct. 11 and Oct. 25 to call 410-832-7182. Officials said the number to call during regular business hours is 410-887-5963, and one can contact the police by calling 410-307-2020.
