A 24-year-old local rapper was fatally shot in the 500 block of Normandy Avenue Sunday, Baltimore City police said.

The shooting death of Dominic Gant, also known by his stage name Nick Breed, brought to three the number of homicides reported in the Southwest District of the Baltimore Police Department on Sunday. Gant was rushed to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center but died shortly thereafter, officers said.

Nick Breed was known for reflecting the pain of Baltimore and promoting non- violence in his song lyrics, according to The Baltimore Sun. Balloons mark the location of the rapper’s death.

Homicide detectives are investigating. Police ask that anyone with information contact Crime Stoppers at 866-7Lockup.

Also on Sunday, police said a 59-year-old man suffered multiple stab wounds around 12:07 p.m. in the 2900 block of Brighton Street. Nearby, a homeless man was seen holding a knife, police said.
