A teenager was killed and eight others were injured Wednesday morning when a car crashed into a charter bus in Hampstead, police said.

Joel William Drawbaugh, 19, of Havre De Grace, was pronounced dead at the scene after he collided into a charter bus at the intersection of Falls Road and Brick Store Road at around 10:50 a.m., police said.

The charter bus driver and seven of the passengers were transported to Carroll Hospital Center with minor injuries, police said.

The charter bus, which was carrying 41 students from St. Vincent Pallotti High School in Laurel, was on its way to a retreat at River Valley Ranch in Manchester.

Police said t bus became stuck while attempting to make a left turn onto the northbound Falls Road from eastbound Brick Store Road.

Investigation indicates Drawbaugh was driving a black Infiniti G37x in the southbound lane on Falls Road north of Brick Store Road. He entered the intersection and struck the rear driver side of the bus, police said.

Police said Drawbaugh was trapped in the vehicle. Fire and rescue personnel freed him from the vehicle at 11:31 a.m. and a Maryland State Police Medieval was requested to the scene but was canceled when the patient went into trauma arrest. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Baltimore County Police Crash Investigation Team is investigating the cause of the accident.

Falls Road remained closed into afternoon rush hour during crash reconstruction efforts, police said.
