A 90-year-old woman and three officers were injured Tuesday night in an Essex house fire, authorities said.
The fire began in a first-floor bedroom of a house on Russell Frost Court when a heat lamp used to warm a pet lizard fell over and ignited, fire officials said. Police said the fire was ruled accidental.
The woman was found outside her home when police officers arrived at the scene at 8:05 p.m. The house was evacuated and firefighters got the fire under control and extinguished at 8:26 p.m.
The woman was transported to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center. The three officers were transported to R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center to treat minor injuries. All were released Tuesday night.
