A 46-year-old Baltimore man was shot dead in Catonsville at 8 p.m. Monday, police said.

Police and medics were sent to Vanderwood Road after receiving calls that a man, identified as Idrissa Derme of the 1900 block of Mosher Street, was lying unconscious on the street.

Police said their investigation shows that Derme suffered at least one gunshot wound while delivering a food order for a local carry-out restaurant. Derme was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives believe that the shooting was a result of a robbery. Police are asking that anyone who may have witnessed or heard gunshots to contact police by calling 410-307-2020.
