Baltimore County Police have identified the man who was shot to death during a funeral ceremony at Mount Zion Cemetery on Hollins Ferry Road in Lansdowne, as well as the man who was critically injured and later died.

Maurice Brown Jr., 32, of the 300 block of Lyndhurst Street in Baltimore, died Wednesday when shooting erupted during the funeral of his brother, 18-year-old Marcus Brown. Police said Maurice Brown suffered gunshot wounds to his upper and lower body.

Montrell Johnson, 25, of the 2800 block of Westfield Avenue in Baltimore, was critically injured in the shooting. Police said Johnson died Friday from a gunshot wound to the upper body.

Homicide Unit detectives continue to investigate the shooting. Officers ask anyone with additional information to contact them by calling 410-307-2020.

At the beginning of a graveside ceremony Wednesday, gunshots rang out around 12:42 p.m. between a group of men who had come to the cemetery at 3900 Hollins Ferry Road for the funeral of homicide victim Marcus Brown. Police said mourners ran in multiple directions, trying to escape the bullets.

Nearby Lansdown High School was put on lockdown for roughly an hour, the Baltimore Sun reported.

The injured men were rushed to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center. Maurice Brown Jr. was pronounced dead, while doctors reported that Johnson was in grave condition, police said. A third victim was treated for chest pains, following the shooting.

Investigators now are trying to piece together the number of suspects and motive for the shooting, police said, adding they do believe that this was a targeted crime. There is no further danger to the public in general, they said.

Baltimore City Police confirmed that Marcus Brown was shot and killed on Aug. 25 in the 1400 bock of North Mount Street near the Gilmor Homes in West Baltimore.
