Two men died and a 5-year-old child faced life-threatening injuries in two separate motorcycle accidents on Wednesday, prompting county police to ask all drivers to be more vigilant in looking for motorcycles on roadways.

Police said the first crash occurred in Butler on Falls Road at Butler Road at around 2 p.m. when a motorcycle traveling northbound on Falls Road struck the rear of a vehicle that entered onto northbound Falls Road in front of him, police said.

The driver of the motorcycle, Daniel John Mangold, 18, of the 2900 block of Southwestern Avenue in Manchester, died at the scene. The driver of the vehicle, who was not injured, remained at the scene, police said.

The second crash occurred in Towson at around 5 p.m. when a vehicle traveling southbound on York Road near Murdock Road turned left in front of a motorcycle traveling northbound, causing the crash, police said.

The motorcyclist, Anthony Isaiah Pompey, 20, of the unit block of Rhonda Court in Windsor Mill, was transported to Sinai Hospital, where he died of his injuries.

All three occupants of the vehicle were also transported to area hospitals. Police said an adult female driver and juvenile passenger sustained minor injuries but that a 5-year-old passenger of the vehicle suffered life-threatening injuries. Police said the child is expected to survive.
