A 27-year-old man from Sparrows Point was arrested Wednesday for allegedly shooting an Essex man on Saturday, police said.

Ronald Lee Scott of Platt Lane was charged with attempted first-degree murder, first-degree assault, and the use of a firearm in the Commission of a Violent Crime, police said. Authorities said he is being held at the Baltimore County Detention Center on no bail status.

Police said they responded to a call for a shooting just before 3 p.m. Saturday in the area of Stemmers Run Road and North Maryln Avenue in Essex. Investigators discovered that an adult male was suffering a gunshot wound to his lower extremity. Police said they believe the victim was targeted by the suspect.

The victim was transported to a local hospital and is currently in good condition, police said.
