A pregnant Parkville woman died Wednesday and her newborn baby was listed in critical but stable condition after the mother was allegedly shot by her husband earlier in the week, county police said.

Baltimore County police said they charged Eric Maurice Glass, 30, of the 2500 block of Wentworth Road in Parkville with first-degree assault, attempted first-degree murder, second-degree child abuse, third-degree burglary, and second-degree assault.  He is being held on a denied bail status, police said.

Police said they expect the county’s State’s Attorney’s Office to upgrade the charges against Glass at a later date.

Detectives concluded that Glass shot his wife, Jasmine Alisha Kennedy, 30, before shooting himself in the head.  The suspect then punched the victim’s 14-year-old son while the other children went to a neighbor’s house for help, police said.

Police said Glass forced his way into the neighbor’s house and assaulted people inside.  A neighbor detained the suspect until police arrived, police said.

Police said they responded to the call just before 10 a.m. on Tuesday.  Kennedy was transported to the local hospital, where it was determined she was pregnant.

Physicians had to remove the child from the victim.  Kennedy was then placed on life support. Police said she died Wednesday when she was taken off of life support.

Police did not release information about whether Glass was injured after shooting himself in the head. They also did not say why Kennedy was taken off of life support or what would happen to the newborn baby.
