Four girls assaulted a pregnant teacher at Villa Cresta Elementary School and stole her car Friday, Baltimore County police said.

The teacher is still in the early stages of her pregnancy and was not injured during the attack but did check in to a local hospital to be examined by a doctor, police said.

The four girls, who police describe as possibly in their teens, were buzzed into the school when they said they were there to inquire about registering a child. After speaking with the office staff, the girls went to the parking lot as the teacher was walking out of the school to her car, police said.

The girls approached the teacher and knocked the cell phone she was holding out of her hand, police said. The teacher fell when she turned to run and dropped her purse, which the girls took along with her phone and car keys.

Two of the girls left in the vehicle they’d driven to the school. The other two left in the teacher’s black 2013 Kia Sportage.

The Baltimore County Police Carjacking Team is continuing to investigate the incident.
