A 39-year-old Lansdowne man died Monday of injuries from a two-story house fire, the Baltimore County Police Department said.

Firefighters rescued Ryan Robert Cavin from the second floor of a house in the 100 block of Hazel Avenue shortly after 4:30 a.m. He was rushed to St. Agnes Hospital where emergency medical crews worked to resuscitate him. Cavin died shortly after, authorities said.

Cavin’s wife, their two children and three others all managed to escape when alerted by the fire alarm. One person suffered minor injuries but refused to go to the hospital, officials said.

Baltimore County Police fire investigators said 24 pieces of equipment responded to the fire that started at 4:30 a.m. in the kitchen of the home. The blaze was extinguished by 4:53 a.m.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, police said.
