Police make arrest in Hunt Valley shooting

shooting Richard Motes 2017 1120A Baltimore man was arrested Tuesday for allegedly shooting another man in Hunt Valley Saturday night, police said.

Richard Lewis Motes, Jr., 52, of the 3500 block of Frankford Avenue, was charged with attempted first-degree murder, first-degree assault, and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony/violent crime, police said.

Police said Motes is being held at the Baltimore County Detention Center.

Police said the victim, a 42-year-old man, is expected to survive his injuries and is listed in good condition at a local hospital.

According to police, officers responded to a call of a shooting at a parking lot on the corner of Shawan Road and McCormick Road around 11:11 p.m. Saturday.

The shooting occurred when two men who knew each and had a prior disputed encountered one another on the parking lot, police said.

The victim turned and attempted to walk away from the situation when he was allegedly shot once in the upper body by the Motes, who then fled the scene, police said.
