One man was killed and another was left critically wounded following a crash on Black Rock Road in northeastern Baltimore County Friday afternoon, according to Baltimore County police.

The driver of the truck, identified as 33-year-old Thomas Wayne Crawford Jr. of the 2000 block of Freeland Road in Freeland, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Another victim was extracted from the truck about three hours after the crash and flown to the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center with life-threatening injuries, police said.

Police said that the Maryland Department of the Environment, as well as Baltimore County Fire Department hazmat units, were dispatched to deal with fuel that spilled into a nearby stream from the crash scene.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation by the Baltimore County Police Crash Investigation Team, police said.

Baltimore County police, fire and EMS personnel responded to a single-vehicle crash involving an overturned truck on Black Rock Road near the junction with Falls Road around 1:30 p.m. Friday.

County rescue crews worked alongside mutual aid units from neighboring Carroll County for over two and a half hours to free the critically injured patient, a passenger in the vehicle, from the truck, police said. The victim was extracted at 4:05 p.m.
