Two elderly Baltimore County women have died of injuries suffered in separate house fires, fire investigators said.

Lucy Jean Thomas, 77, and her 57-year-old son jumped from a second story bedroom window when fire erupted at the home in the 6600 Block of Dalton Drive around 5 p.m. last week. Nineteen Baltimore County Fire Department units from the Pikesville Fire Station’s Engine 2 rushed to the scene.

Thomas was rushed to Sinai Hospital in critical condition. Her son was taken to the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in serious condition. Thomas’ boyfriend escaped uninjured, authorities said.

Fire investigators determined that food was left cooking unattended on the kitchen stove.

Pearline Knox Felder, 93, died Tuesday at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center of injuries suffered at 3 a.m. Saturday. Firefighters responded to a carbon monoxide alarm at the Felder home in the Unit Block of Francine Court. Felder was found unconscious, authorities said.

The Baltimore County Fire Department reported that the alarm was triggered by an accidental electric fire.
