JonesA 30-year-old woman was charged with first-degree murder in connection with the killing of her husband at Johns Hopkins Hospital last Friday, police said.

Baltimore police said they believe Anita Nicole Jones may have cut  her husband, 33-year-old Christopher Yancey Sr., during an argument at the hospital.

The incident occurred at approximately 2:13 p.m. on Oct. 13 when police were dispatched to Johns Hopkins Hospital’s Bloomberg building in the 1800 block of Orleans Street for a reported suicide, police said.

Hospital personnel told police that Yancey and Jones had been arguing while waiting for a procedure to be completed on their son, police said.

Police said Jones emerged from their son’s room informing hospital staff members that Yancey had cut himself.

Hospital staff members went into the room and discovered Yancey suffering from lacerations to the upper body.  Yancey succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead despite efforts of medical personnel, police said.

Police said Jones had left the hospital before police arrived.

Homicide detectives learned that Jones and the victim were inside the room alone and no weapons were found at the scene, police said.

Police said the victim’s injuries were not consistent with an apparent suicide and detectives petitioned the courts for an arrest warrant for Jones.

Jones was apprehended and transported to Central Booking Intake Facility where she was formally charged with first-degree murder on Oct. 14.
