Parkville Man IncidentA 68-year-old man was arrested Thursday afternoon after he climbed onto the front of a school bus and demanded entry, police said.

Laverne Ardin Doran of the 4100 block of Slater Avenue, Baltimore, was arrested at the scene and charged with disturbing the peace, hindering passage, disorderly conduct, obstructing a middle school bus driver, and destruction of property, police said. He was released from commitment on his own recognizance.

Doran claimed that his vehicle in the lane next to the bus at the intersection of Putty Hill Avenue and Hoerner Avenue in Parkville was hit by a bottle thrown by a passenger on the school bus, police said.

Police said the bus driver continued to slowly drive toward the closest police precinct with the man still holding on to the front of the bus.

Doran slammed his fist on the hood of the bus, police said, adding that when the bus stopped at a traffic light he got down and tried again to enter the bus, breaking a handle off the doors. An off-duty police officer witnessed the scene and got involved.

The school bus was transporting students from Loch Raven Middle School during the incident, police said. The students were not put in danger at any time. The incident was recorded on a student’s cell phone camera and released, police said.

The incident continues to be investigated.
