The New Windsor, Maryland, man who was wanted for a murder that occurred on Tuesday was found dead early this morning in an apparent suicide, police said.

Joseph Masilek, 45, was discovered after 8 a.m. Thursday in a wooded area behind 2600 Annapolis Road in Severn, Maryland, with a self-inflicted gunshot wound, police said.

Police said the discovery came after the Anne Arundel Police Department received a call about a man walking into the woods with a rifle. Officers went about five feet into the woods when they saw Masilek’s body, authorities said.

Police announced earlier this week that they were searching for Masilek in connection with the murder of 68-year-old Robert Breen, which occurred on Tuesday in the 5500 block of Summerfield Avenue.
