A 50-year-old Essex man is being held at the Baltimore County Department of Corrections on charges stemming from a knife fight with a cab driver and a bystander, police said Thursday.

Michael John Pillsbury has been denied bail after his arrest on Wednesday. Police said Pillsbury is accused of knifing a cab driver he frequently uses when the man refused to give him a ride in the area of 300 block of Homberg Avenue. Pillsbury allegedly took out a knife and cut the cabbie across the chest.

Another man saw the conflict and attempted to help the cab driver, police said. That man was injured on his lower body during a struggle.

Baltimore County Fire Department officials rushed the two stabbing victims to local hospitals for medical treatment. They are expected to survive their injuries, police said.

Pillsbury is charged with threatening an arson, attempted second degree murder, two counts of first-degree assault, and two counts of second degree assault, police said.
