The 31 volunteer rescue and rehab companies in Baltimore County recently received more than $9.1 million in financial support from Baltimore County.

The county support to the volunteers represents an increase of about $1 million over the past year, officials said.

County Executive Kevin Kamenetz presented the grants two weeks ago during the annual meeting of the Baltimore County Volunteer Firemen’s Association, which was held at the Bowleys Quarter Volunteer Fire Department. The $9.1 million that was given to the volunteers for the coming year includes $2.4 million that must be paid out over the course of the year to the 21 companies that provide medic services in the area. This represents an increase of about $100,000 over the past year, officials said.
