A 33-year-old man was shot on the ride side of his torso yesterday and is currently in critical condition at a local hospital, police said.

The shooting occurred at about 11:36 p.m. in the 1700 block of North Fulton Avenue, police said.

Police said that a preliminary investigation indicates that the victim was operating an illegal taxicab and had picked up a male and female.

When inside the victim’s vehicle, the female robbed the victim and took his wallet and cell phone, while the male passenger shot the victim, police said. Both suspects left the location on foot, according to police.

Citywide shooting detectives responded to the scene of the crime and are leading the investigation. Detectives ask that anyone with information to contact them at 410-396-2221.
