Man charged after allegedly robbing woman

A 56-year-old man from the 5200 block of Benson Avenue in Arbutus, faces charges in connection with the robbery of a 66-year-old women Friday afternoon at a Bank of America parking lot, police said.

Steven Vincent Allen was taken into custody May 3around 11 a.m. after being identified as the man who robbed and threatened a woman with a hand-held Taser, police said. The identification came shortly after surveillance images of the suspect were released, police said.

The suspect put a Taser near the women’s neck and grabbed for her purse, according to police. Police said the women then shoved the suspect to the ground, knocking down the Taser and her purse. The suspect took $9 that fell out of the purse and fled, police said.

Allen is being held without bail at the Baltimore County Detention Center after being charged with armed robbery, robbery, first- and second-degree assault, petty theft, and other relevant charges, police said.
