A 37-year-old Baltimore man was arrested and found in possession of a gun and multiple bags of marijuana on Monday, police said.

Police said Hakeem Hester of the 2300 block of Hoffman Street was pulled over on Monday at approximately 10:30 a.m. in the 2300 block of McElderry Street. The Southeast District Patrol officer pulled Hester over for having a dark tint on the front windshield.

Police said when the officer approached the vehicle, he smelled a strong odor of unburnt marijuana. Hester informed the officer that he had recently smoked marijuana and then gave the officer permission to search his vehicle without the officer asking, police said.

In the fuse box of the car, directly under the steering wheel, the officer found approximately 160 grams of marijuana in plastic bags, and a loaded .32-caliber handgun, police said.

Hester was arrested on the scene and charged with handgun and narcotics violations, and was issued a repair order for the illegal window tint, police said.

Hester remains in central booking where bail has been set at $150,000, according to police.
