Baltimore County Fire Department HazMat Response has been working with the Maryland Department of the Environment near Ivy Hill Road & Broadmead Court to contain a 2,000 gallons of heating oil that spilled from a truck into a stream, police said.
Around 10 a.m. Thursday, the oil spill was contained north of I-83 & Gilroy Road. The crew had also started drilling the ruptured tank to remove the residual oil from it, police said.
An hour later, the spill was contained in Baisman Run with no other leaks reported. The removal of the oil tank and residual oil continued for another hour after the main spill was contained, police said.
As of 2 a.m. on Friday, the MDE has reported that there is no impact on drinking water in the community near the spill.
