City police officers shot and wounded a man who they say was threatening people with two knives Friday morning.

The incident occurred at about 9:30 a.m. in the 3300 block of Greenmount Avenue, police said.

The man was taken to a local hospital where he is in critical condition, police said.

Police said the man was wielding two knives and ignored verbal commands to drop his weapons. Police said they tased the man, but it did not result in a response. It was then that police shot him, authorities said.

Police say at least one officer was wearing a body camera and the footage will be reviewed.

Homicide detectives were called to the scene, police said.
