Two people were arrested last week in connection with the death of a 1-year-old baby, police said.

Brian Johns, 30, and Brittley Brown, 26, of the 2600 block of Shirley Avenue, were charged Monday with second-degree murder of 1-year-old Jayden Johnson, police said.

The autopsy of Johnson revealed that the cause of death was due to malnutrition, dehydration, and blunt force trauma, police said.

Police said the homicide occurred on Aug. 30 at approximately 5:52 a.m. in the 2600 block of Shirley Avenue.

When police arrived at the location, they said they observed Baltimore city medics performing CPR on the victim.

Johnson was transported to Sinai Hospital, but was pronounced dead despite the efforts of the doctors, police said.
