Two people died after they suffered gunshot wounds in the head and face Monday afternoon in the 2200 block of Poplar Grove Street in Baltimore, police said.

Police said they discovered the bodies at about 12:51 p.m. when they were called to the scene for a reported shooting.

The female, who was 69, was transported to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead, police said. They said the adult male was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said the Baltimore City Fire Department responded to that location after a smoke alarm went off. They then ventured inside to find both victims suffering from gunshot wounds, authorities said.

There are currently no witnesses or suspects, police said.
