A 23-year-old man was arrested and charged with various firearms and narcotics violations in the 5100 block of Park Heights Avenue in Baltimore on Sunday,  police said.

Police said Anthony Modica of Dudley Avenue was arrested by officers in the Gun Trace Task Force who were conducting proactive enforcement when they said they followed the suspect into the Dash Convenience store at 5100 Park Heights Avenue.

Police said Modica displayed the characteristics of an armed person. The officers stopped him  to conduct an investigation and found him to be armed, police said.

The officers recovered a loaded 9-mm handgun and suspected narcotics, which were submitted at the Evidence Control Section, police said.

Modica is prohibited from possessing a firearm and is waiting to see a court commissioner, police said.
