Eight to 10 people were displaced after a three-alarm fire broke out Tuesday at a Pikesville high rise apartment, authorities said.
Firefighters were dispatched Tuesday night to the 100 block of Slade Avenue for a report of a fire in a six-story apartment building, police said.
When crews arrives residents were found inside the building and smoke was showing. Firefighters helped residents take shelter on balconies until truck companies were able to rescue them, officials said.
The fire rendered five units in the building uninhabitable. Two residents were transported to local hospitals with non-life threatening injuries, police said.
All residents, except those living in the five uninhabitable units, were able to return to their homes after firefighters deemed it safe, officials said.
County fire investigators are still investigating the incident.
