Two people have been charged with first-degree murder in the death of a 78-year-old man found in his home on Wednesday morning in Essex, according to Baltimore County Police.

Police said  Daniel Atkinson Jr., 46, and Lisa Kuczinski, 50, entered B.G. Ledford’s home on the unit block of Sparton Drive, where they repeatedly stabbed him after an altercation.

Ledford was declared dead at the scene after police found him with traumatic injuries to the upper body. His ex-wife discovered him lying on the floor when she came to check on him after he had been unresponsive to family members, police said.

According to police, Atkinson and Ledford were acquaintances.

Atkinson and Kuczinski are being held without bail at the Baltimore County Detention Center.

The Baltimore County Police Homicide Unit is investigating the incident.
