Detectives are investigating a shooting that occurred during an armed robbery in Middle River on Monday morning that left one man injured.

The incident began at about 10:30 a.m. in the 3800 block of Dunsmuir Circle when two men knocked on the door of an apartment, police said. When the victims, a 27-year-old man and 20-year-old woman, answered the door, the suspect’s announced that they were robbing the home, police said.

The suspects, one of whom had a handgun, entered the apartment and shot the man after a short struggle, police said. Police said that after the robbery, the suspects fled the scene on foot with an unknown amount of cash in tow.

The victim is in surgery at a local hospital. Police said they are trying to determine whether this was a targeted crime.

The Baltimore County Police Department encourages anyone with information on the crime to call 410-307-2020.
