Baltimore County police wore arm bands this weekend to remember an officer who lost his life in the line of duty almost 30 years ago.
According to police, Officer Robert Zimmerman was struck by two cars and critically injured during a routine stop on Edmonson Avenue on Nov. 5, 1986. He died from those injuries on Nov. 14, 1986.
During the 46-year career, Zimmerman received five departmental citations and was once named officer of the year by the Catonsville Optimist Club. He was with the department for 18 years.
