A man who suffered multiple stab wounds to his upper body Thursday night in Essex is expected to live after receiving treatment from an area hospital, police said.

Baltimore County police responded to a report of a stabbing at the 900 block of Ashbridge Drive Thursday just after 6:30 p.m.

The suspect, Michael Gregory Smith, 24, of the 7400 block of Philadelphia Road was apprehended and charged with attempted first degree-murder and first-degree assault, police said.

According to police, Smith and the victim were engaged in an argument that resulted in Smith stabbing the victim multiple times.

Scott is currently being held at the Baltimore County Detention center while the incident remains under investigation, police said.
