A body found floating in Back River more than two years ago has been identified as a 79-year-old man from Baltimore City, police said.

William Bagley, of the 1800 block of Woodbourne Avenue, had mental challenges and was reported missing from his home on Aug. 22, 2011, police said.

Police said just before 1 p.m. on Sept. 8, 2011, Bagley’s body was found unclothed in the river under the I-695 bridge. There were no signs of foul play and no indication as to who the main was, police said.

The initial investigation by detectives with the Homicide Unit of Baltimore County did not verify Bagley’s identity, but police said detectives were able to obtain a possible identity.

Police said DNA test results were received from the University of North Texas earlier this month that positively identified the victim as Bagley.
