87-year-old man killed in car crash

An 87-year-old Kingsville man died and another man was injured in a car accident on Belair Road Wednesday morning, police said.

Mario Anthony Silvestri, 87, of the 600 block of South Broadway, died at Franklin Square Hospital after police said the Ford Taurus he was driving struck a Jeep Wrangler while the Jeep was turning left into a parking lot.

Both vehicles continued into the lot after the initial crash, hitting several other unoccupied vehicles, police said.

The driver of the Jeep was transported to Johns Hopkins Bayview Hospital for treatment of his injuries and is expected to survive, police said.

Baltimore County police and fire personnel responded to Belair Road and New Cut Road at 9 a.m. for a report of a serious crash. When officers arrived, they found the two people injured.

The Crash Team is continuing an investigation into this crash. When the investigation is complete, it will be sent to Baltimore County State’s Attorney’s Office for review.
