Towson-University-incidentTowson University officials evacuated Cook Library and the Media Center at about 6:15 p.m. Monday when they received threats about an armed man in the research facility. Police finished their check of the library by 8 p.m. and said the initial reports were false.

Around 6:15 p.m., university police responded to an anonymous call about someone with an explosive device inside Cook Library, according to a press release.

Students standing outside the library said fire alarms were pulled to expedite the evacuation process. Others said they saw officers running into the library, some with their guns on their hands.

Authorities cleared the library around 8 p.m. and said there were no threats presents.

Police said they will continue to investigate the telephone threat. There were no word on possible connections to the activity in Baltimore City.
