JamesLeeFoxBookingPhotoA Dundalk man was arrested Tuesday for first-degree burglary, theft and destruction of property in connection with a series of scrap metal burglaries that occurred in his North Point Village neighborhood over the past three months, police said.

James Lee Fox, 22, of the 7800 block of Saint Claire Lane faces 53 charges for taking copper piping or wiring from at least 12 Dundalk homes between Feb. 13 and April 20, police said.

Detectives with the Baltimore County Police scrap metals team identified Fox as a suspect when they matched metal he scrapped to items that were taken from a Dundalk home last week, police said. Police said Fox did not have a license to scrap metal in Maryland.

Detectives served a search and seizure warrant at Fox’s home on April 21 and said they recovered tools that included a copper pipe cutter. The investigation indicates that Fox sold the scrap metal within a day of each burglary, police said.

Fox is being held at the Baltimore County detention center on a $150,000 bail.
