A Towson man was sentenced to 42 months in prison on Feb. 25 after he pleaded guilty in federal court to possession of child pornography.

Nicholas Haxall Johnson, 24, made the plea agreement  in September 2013, police said.

Baltimore County Police said Johnson’s laptop and external hard drive contained more than 250,000 images, a majority of which portrayed minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct.

Police said Johnson also created an online persona as a 15-year old male so that he could communicate with 13- to 14-year-old girls. He discussed sexual topics with the girls and encourage them to send him nude photographs, police said.
