Towson University announced today that it has appointed Traevena L. Byrd as the school’s new general counsel, effective April 6.
Byrd will serve as the legal advisor to the president and university executives officers. She will also lead the Office of University Counsel, serve on the President’s Council and act as the liaison to the Maryland Office of the Attorney General.
The announcement was made to all Towson employees through an e-mail from Timothy J.L. Chandler, the university’s interim president.
Byrd was the associate general counsel at Ithaca College in New York. She will replace Michael Anselmi, who retired after more than 15 years with Towson.
